THREADS OF MY ESSENCE This book is a summary of my life from birth until the present. I grew up with Yugoslavia and socialism. That was a wonderful time, despite the post-war poverty. Often it seemed that life played with me and that was worthless to live. My greatest wishes were not realized. In the 44 years of life in Yugoslavia, I acquired three degrees in three different professions; I published six books, worked about 24 years, married, divorced, and remarried. Buried my son, got a daughter. Survived the breakup of Socialist Yugoslavia, fleeing the horrors of war, lived in exile with the two-month baby, not perceiving the future, but itas not all black in life, and not in torment forever. In my 47th year of life I came to Canada with my wife and 3-year old daughter, without the knowledge of English, with three degrees and no money. After 18 months I got my first job, after 5 years I got a second daughter, and in the last 4 years I published 3 books of poetry.After five years we left the building on Gatensbury Street and moved to a complex of 155 apartments in Vancouver, a coastal ... wasvery difficult to workfor because the owner had a problemseparating fromthe money for maintenance costs. ...
